Position Summary
Sony Corporation of America (SCA) is seeking a Manager, International Tax Compliance, to join the Global Tax Office located in New New York City to support the consolidation team. The Manager, International Tax Compliance, will be responsible for tax reporting and compliance including, but not limited to, preparation and review of income tax provisions, preparation of income tax returns, and preparation and review of various tax projects.
Primary focus is international, but certain involvement in the domestic area is expected. This position will be on a hybrid schedule requiring 3‑4 days per week onsite in the NYC office.
- Assist in reviewing and analysis of foreign income tax provision reporting for all foreign subsidiaries in the Sony Corporation of America consolidated group (including subsidiaries in foreign joint ventures).
- Review updates of pre‑tax income/income tax for tax budgets, forecasts and forecast updates for all foreign subsidiaries.
- Prepare income tax returns as required by the Internal Revenue Service (5471, 5472, 5713, 8858, 8865 & 1120F).
- Maintain the tax basis for all foreign subsidiaries.
- Calculate income inclusions as required by the Internal Revenue Code [Subpart F] and be aware of US tax reform impacts such as GILTI and 163(j).
- Update and estimate earnings and profits of all foreign subsidiaries, maintain taxes paid pools, and compute tested income or loss.
- Perform international compliance research and tax planning as required.
- Interact with business units as a tax liaison to ensure that all material tax issues are identified and tax benefits/costs/risks are evaluated and addressed.
- Coordinate and assist with the parent company accounting group’s requests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Honesty, trustworthiness and ethical conduct are material requirements for the responsibilities outlined above.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of six (6) years of International Tax Experience in public accounting and/or private industry is required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Master’s degree in taxation, or equivalent experience is desired.
- Federal and state income tax experience is a plus.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and a high degree of accuracy and ability to meet deadlines in a time‑sensitive environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Hands‑on working knowledge of corporate tax or similar tax software.
- Entertainment industry knowledge is a plus.
- Must work well as an individual contributor and be a team player.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $140,000 to $150,000. In addition to the annual base salary, this role has an annual bonus target of thirteen (13%) percent.
