Controller
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, Procurement & IT, the Controller will own the mine site's end-to-end accounting, financial reporting, and FP&A functions. This newly created role plays a key leadership part in ERP system selection and implementation, supporting rapid growth while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and actionable insights for site leadership.
- Lead accounting, financial reporting, cost accounting, and budgetary controls/analytics.
- Oversee inventory cycle counts, accuracy, capital project tracking, and fixed asset capitalization.
- Own FP&A including budgeting, forecasting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, headcount/expenses), variance analysis, and reporting.
- Manage timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes; prepare financial statements, compliance reports, and regulatory filings.
- Support internal/external audits, implement corrective actions, and ensure SOX/internal controls.
- Lead ERP evaluation, selection, and implementation in a mining/industrial environment.
- Analyze results vs. budget/forecast; prepare ad hoc reports for site and corporate stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, maintain metrics, and foster cross-departmental collaboration.
- Ensure policy adherence, confidential data security, and proactive communication of issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 5 years as a financial leader (public company experience preferred).
- Expert proficiency in Excel and Quick Books.
- Experience with construction project management, agile/lean practices, and FP&A.
- Proven track record selecting/implementing ERP systems in mining, industrial, or manufacturing settings.
- Experience with internal controls and SOX implementation.
- Knowledge of tax/transfer pricing issues and IFRS accounting standards/best practices.
- Ability to work in the United States; strong English communication, critical thinking, and data analysis skills.
- CPA designation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including One Note and Teams).
- U.S. GAAP expertise.
