Job SummaryThe Credit Products Specialist II – Corporate Banking plays a key role in structuring and underwriting complex corporate credit transactions while managing an assigned loan portfolio. This position is responsible for structuring, diligencing, underwriting and recommending new leveraged corporate banking loan requests while adhering to the bank’s credit policy and established credit standards and guidelines. By proactively monitoring portfolio performance, identifying emerging risks, and timely recommending risk rating changes, this role ensures sound credit decisions and long‑term client success.
The position also supports the professional development of junior team members by sharing expertise and best practices.
- Credit Structuring & Underwriting :
Lead underwriting efforts for complex corporate banking loan requests, assessing creditworthiness, preparing credit approval packages and recommending risk‑mitigating structures. - Portfolio & Risk Management :
Continuously monitor assigned portfolio to proactively identify credit risks, trends, and financial performance concerns. Responsible for facilitating timely upgrades or downgrades of risk ratings. - Client & Stakeholder Engagement :
Partner with RMs in negotiations and client discussions, ensuring alignment between client needs and risk appetite. - Credit Agreement Review :
Collaborate with legal teams to review and negotiate credit agreements, ensuring compliance with bank policies and risk management frameworks. - Mentorship & Training :
Provide guidance to junior credit professionals, enhancing team capabilities and fostering a strong credit culture. Identifies and raises to leadership improvement areas in credit processes and procedures. - Uses independent judgement and discretion to make decisions regarding assigned portfolio.
- Analyzes and resolves problems pertaining to the assigned portfolio.
- Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
- Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Education level required:
Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field or 10+ years of equivalent experience. - Minimum experience required: 4+ Years in corporate banking or leveraged finance credit analysis, underwriting, or portfolio management.
- Advanced financial modeling and risk assessment expertise.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to collaborate with clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience structuring complex leveraged corporate banking loan transactions.
- Experience underwriting participations in syndicated leveraged corporate banking transactions.
- Ability to analyze macroeconomic trends and their impact on credit risk.
- Advanced Financial & Credit Analysis:
Strong command of financial modeling, industry‑specific credit risks, and structuring corporate credit transactions. - Risk Assessment & Decision-Making:
Ability to proactively and timely identify potential credit risks and recommend risk mitigation strategies. - Negotiation
Skills:
Works with RMs and clients to structure loan terms that align with both client needs and risk parameters. - Process & Portfolio Management:
Manages complex portfolios, ensuring proactive monitoring and adherence to credit policies and portfolio management requirements. - Stakeholder Influence:
Builds strong relationships with internal and external partners, effectively communicating credit decisions. - Project Management:
Ability to drive loan structuring and closing processes with minimal oversight. - Legal & Compliance Understanding:
Familiarity with credit agreements for large corporate borrowers, loan documentation, and regulatory requirements. - Technology & Data Utilization:
