Role Overview

The Private Credit VP (externally Fund Controller) will support private credit funds in accounting, reporting, and compliance.

Key

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate production calendar to meet deadlines such as MS firm, SEC and investor deliverables.
  • Manage and maintain internal income forecast model to estimate distributable income.
  • Manage third‑party valuation specialists, review appraisals and valuation models.
  • Research accounting issues and prepare technical accounting policy documents and memos.
  • Manage and review administrator deliverables to ensure accurate NAV reporting and financial statements, and accurate investor notices and reporting.
  • Interface with auditors during quarterly review and audit coordination, and for internal controls assessment.
  • Liaise with internal auditors and SOX service provider on internal control testing and enhancements.
  • Coordinate with tax team to review quarterly and annual RIC tests, and with external tax firms for annual tax returns, K‑1s and local filings.
  • Review tie‑out of quarterly/annual financial statements and assist in implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Review SEC filings (8‑Ks, 10‑Qs, 10‑Ks, earnings releases, supplemental reporting) and provide comments.
  • Detail review of investor reporting (capital account statements, capital calls, distributions notices and performance reporting).
  • Assist in improving efficiency through technology and other special projects.
  • Retrieve and compile financial information for investor correspondence.
  • Review and provide input to all fund‑related regulatory filings; respond to regulatory requests and inquiries related to BDCs/Funds.
  • Coordinate with portfolio management on monthly portfolio stats and quarterly portfolio review process.
  • Coordinate with shadow book service providers and review monthly NAV reconciliations.
  • Detail review of monthly/quarterly credit facility waterfall payment file.
  • Detail review of credit facility reporting and compliance with credit facility agreements.
  • Oversee work assignments of analysts/associates, communicate performance expectations, and provide feedback.
Skills & Qualifications
  • 9‑12 years of experience in financial accounting or finance function for an alternative investment manager with exposure to private credit, BDCs, or private equity funds.
  • Ability to implement accounting and reporting for various investment structures or funds.
  • Desire to understand transaction process flows and develop process solutions.
  • Experience with external audit processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles including US GAAP and Investment Company Accounting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA is a plus.
  • Big Four accounting firm experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Benefits & Compensation

Base pay $150,000–$210,000 per year, with additional commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, short‑ and long‑term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley‑sponsored benefit programs.
