A financial advisory firm with an active real estate investment banking practice is looking to add at the Associate and Vice President level. The firm advises REITs, real estate operating companies, private equity sponsors, and institutional owners on mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital raises, asset dispositions, and broader strategic advisory mandates across property sectors including office, industrial, multifamily, retail, hospitality, and alternatives.
RolesBoth hires will work directly with senior coverage bankers on live mandates. The Vice President will take on greater client‑facing responsibility, help manage junior team members, and be expected to contribute to business development efforts alongside senior leadership. The Associate will focus primarily on execution, modeling, and deal process management with increasing client exposure over time. This is a sector‑focused practice with real deal flow.
Neither role is generalist or rotational.
- Executing M&A, capital markets, and strategic advisory transactions across real estate sectors
- Building and maintaining financial models including NAV, DCF, REIT FFO/AFFO analysis, and LBO frameworks where relevant
- Preparing and owning client‑facing materials across pitches, process updates, and transaction documents
- Managing due diligence work streams and coordinating with legal, accounting, and third‑party advisors
- VP level: supporting origination, managing client relationships day to day, and mentoring junior staff
- 2 to 4 years of investment banking experience, ideally within a real estate, REIT, or generalist coverage group with meaningful real estate transaction exposure
- Candidates from real estate private equity, institutional real estate investment management, or corporate development at a major REIT or real estate operating company with hands‑on deal experience are also competitive
- Strong technical modeling skills and familiarity with real estate specific valuation frameworks
- 5 to 7 years of investment banking experience with a track record of executing real estate M&A or capital markets transactions from start to finish
- Prior experience managing junior bankers and owning work streams independently
- Beginning to develop client relationships and comfortable representing the firm in senior meetings
- Candidates transitioning from real estate PE or institutional investment platforms at a comparable level will be considered where transaction experience is strong
Both levels: undergraduate degree from a target institution required, MBA a plus but not required for candidates with strong deal track records.
Compensation$175,000 to $225,000 base for Associate and $275,000 to $350,000 base for VP
Why This OpportunityThe real estate practice is an active and growing part of the firm's advisory business. Hires at both levels will have real mandate exposure, cross-product collaboration opportunities, and a clear path toward senior coverage roles. For candidates who want to build genuine expertise in real estate M&A advisory rather than sit in a large generalist team, this is the right environment.
