Esoteric ABF Associate

Overview

A leading alternative investment manager focused on opportunistic and special situations ABF investments is seeking to add an Associate to its deal team. This individual will play a key role in sourcing, evaluating, and executing investments across a wide range of complex and non-traditional opportunities. The role offers direct exposure to senior investment professionals and the opportunity to work on highly differentiated transactions in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

• Evaluate Investment Opportunities
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis, valuation, and modeling for prospective investments
  • Assess credit risk, downside protection, and return profiles across various capital structures
  • Perform industry, company, and market research to support investment decisions
• Transaction Execution
  • Support all aspects of deal execution including diligence, structuring, negotiation, and documentation
  • Coordinate with legal, advisors, and counter parties throughout the lifecycle of a transaction
  • Prepare internal investment memoranda and materials for investment committee review
• Portfolio Monitoring
  • Track performance of existing investments and identify risks and value-creation opportunities
  • Analyze financial results, covenants, and operating metrics
  • Assist with restructurings, amendments, and exit processes
• Sourcing & Market Coverage
  • Monitor market trends and identify new investment themes within special situations and opportunistic credit
  • Develop relationships with intermediaries, lenders, and other market participants
  • Assist senior team members in evaluating inbound opportunities and building pipeline

• Experience
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in investment banking (preferably coming from an ABF, ABS, or structured credit group)
  • Strong exposure to esoteric assets, consumer and/or commercial finance is preferred
