The SSD Delivery Finance team is responsible for last mile transportation spend across North America. Our Finance teams partner closely with operations to influence strategic direction of the business, drive operational excellence, and make sound investment and expansion decisions, with the primary goal of continuously improving the customer experience while driving long‑term profitability for our portfolio of businesses. Our teams experiment, fail fast, learn, and scale rapidly, while maintaining a data‑driven decision‑making culture.
The SSD Delivery Finance team seeks a Finance Manager. This role is responsible for key forecasting and reconciliation processes, developing and implementing a long‑range business plan, developing key processes around the organization’s goals, and leading financial analyses of major business events. The role partners closely with a broad range of global finance and business leaders across tech and operations teams to design, develop, and maintain performance measurements and reports on strategic input drivers to continuously improve the economics of the business.
The successful candidate will influence business owners, support thoughtful decision‑making, and adapt to a rapidly‑evolving environment. They collaborate with executives and various business units across Amazon, bring excellent verbal and written communication skills, prioritize the most impactful projects and programs, and provide an opportunity to innovate by building creative solutions with large‑scale data mining tools.
Key Responsibilities- Identify basic control risks, evaluate impact, propose changes, and implement improvements to remediate gaps.
- Deliver weekly/monthly financial close.
- Use financial systems and advanced MS Excel functions to work with large data sets.
- Work with a variety of data sources, identify incomplete or inaccurate data, identify root causes of data issues, and either fix the data or partner to deliver a solution.
- Communicate data, both written and verbal, in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner, adjusting style for various audiences.
- Identify and implement solutions to resolve, improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance processes.
- Drive own self‑development in the Finance Community; participate in events, initiatives, and projects, and share gained knowledge within and outside the team.
- Contribute to work‑life harmony by being a positive, collaborative, and effective influencer to new team members.
- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience.
- 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience.
- 6+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses.
- 6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision‑making.
- 6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis.
- 6+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results.
- 5+ years of dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy.
- 5+ years of leading cross‑functional initiatives that drive financial performance and strategy.
- Bachelor's degree.
- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying root cause, and creating/implementing an escalation plan.
- 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits).
- MBA, or CPA.
