Investment Operations Data at Leading Hedge Fund

Overview

A leading buy-side investment firm based in New York City is seeking an Investment Operations Specialist to join its growing team. This role supports the firm's investment platform through ownership of reference data, security onboarding, and operational support for complex credit products.

The position sits at the intersection of data management and loan operations, partnering closely with investment professionals, technology teams, and external vendors to ensure accurate setup, lifecycle maintenance, and ongoing support for less liquid assets. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of bank loans and credit products, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys improving processes through automation and control enhancements.

• Maintain and enhance the firm's security master framework with a focus on leveraged loans, private credit, and other structured credit instruments.
• Ensure timely onboarding and maintenance of new securities and associated attributes across internal systems.
• Perform data validation and exception management to uphold the integrity and accuracy of reference data.
• Support operational processing related to credit instruments throughout their lifecycle, including amendments, paydowns, interest changes, accrual adjustments, and settlement activity.
• Partner with front office, middle office, technology, and external counter parties to resolve data and operational issues.
• Develop and document procedures, controls, and workflows aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing operational risk.
• Collaborate with internal development teams on system enhancements and business requirements for data and operations initiatives.
• Evaluate and onboard new market data providers, platforms, and service offerings to strengthen the firm's capabilities within the leveraged finance ecosystem.
• Act as a key point of contact for stakeholders requiring support related to security setup, pricing, and operational events.

• 5+ years of experience within operations, reference data, or middle office functions at an asset manager, hedge fund, or financial institution.
• Strong understanding of bank loans, leveraged finance products, private debt, and other illiquid credit instruments.
• Prior experience managing security master data and supporting complex asset onboarding processes.
• Familiarity with market data and operations platforms such as Bloomberg, S&P Global/Markit, Refinitiv, Clear Par, ICE, Wall Street Office, or similar systems.
• Working knowledge of SQL and advanced Excel skills.
• Demonstrated ability to improve processes and implement operational controls.
• Strong communication skills with experience interacting across investment, operations, and technology teams.
• Detail-oriented self-starter capable of managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

• Experience supporting loan lifecycle events and settlement processes.
• Exposure to vendor evaluations, data governance initiatives, or system implementation projects.
• Previous experience within a hedge fund or alternative asset manager environment.
