Location: New York

  • Manage a portfolio of stressed and distressed credit exposures across corporate, structured finance, leveraged finance, and project finance transactions.
  • Perform ongoing assessment of deteriorating credit situations and identify potential risks impacting the bank’s exposure.
  • Lead or support restructuring, amendment, forbearance, and recovery negotiations with borrowers, sponsors, legal counsel, and external advisors.
  • Prepare detailed credit analysis and workout recommendations for internal committees and senior management.
  • Assess collateral quality, liquidity, and recovery prospects under various downside scenarios.
  • Partner closely with Front Office, Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to develop strategies that protect the bank’s interests.
  • Monitor covenant compliance, liquidity events, refinancing risks, and market developments impacting borrowers.
  • Participate in watch list reviews and special assets governance processes.
  • Contribute to the development of workout strategies, policies, and portfolio risk management initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory requirements.
Skills & Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience within credit risk, workout/special assets, restructuring, leveraged finance risk, or distressed investing.
  • Strong understanding of corporate credit analysis and restructuring/workout processes.
  • Experience managing stressed or distressed credit situations.
  • Ability to analyze complex capital structures and downside/recovery scenarios.
  • Experience working with legal documentation, amendments, waivers, and restructuring negotiations.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong partnership skills across Risk, Front Office, Legal, and senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of US credit markets and regulatory practices preferred.
  • Prior exposure to leveraged finance, structured finance, project finance, or corporate banking portfolios preferred.
