The Team You Will Join

Met Life’s US Actuarial Development Program (ADP) focuses on developing future leaders of Met Life who will create innovative business solutions based on actuarial principles and contribute to the success of the company. As part of the professional development process, participants (known as "actuarial students") will rotate to new actuarial assignments approximately every two years within core areas of Met Life’s businesses.

Work experience gained will enable participants to become well‑rounded actuaries and knowledgeable in several areas of actuarial practice. Such areas of practice may include pricing and product development, reserve calculations, actuarial modeling, financial analysis, asset liability management, and investments.

The first rotation in the ADP will be within RIS. The Actuarial Assistant is responsible for creating illustrations and producing attractive quotes for new business across a wide variety of COLI/BOLI products. This is an exciting opportunity to expand actuarial knowledge and become involved in various aspects of new business sales/development in a fast‑paced and evolving market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for creating accurate and timely illustrations, quotes and other new business deliverables in the first rotation.

  • Responsible for initiating, organizing, and coordinating data and making recommendations to team members based on research.
  • Prepare for and take challenging actuarial exams administered through the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and work towards becoming qualified as a Fellow of the SOA (FSA designation). The Actuarial Development program will provide study days, study material reimbursements, exam salary increases, and other support to encourage and help participants pass their actuarial exams.
  • Participants are expected to balance their work responsibilities with their actuarial studies.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, or other analytical/business related degree.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Passed at least one SOA actuarial exam. Additional passed exams are preferred and may be required based on the particular position being filled.
  • Committed to completing the Society of Actuaries' educational requirements to attain the FSA designation. This can be illustrated through passed exams, actuarial work experience, affiliation with actuarial organizations and clubs, and analytical degrees.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other technical tools; experience with Python, SQL, or R preferred.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
