Job Title

Director - Finance, Group Manager

Role And Responsibilities
  • Daily ensure accurate and timely reporting for the income statement and balance sheet for Global Equities Derivatives businesses in TD Securities.
  • Liaise with Front Office, Information Technology, Risk, Finance and other control functions and key stakeholders.
  • Act as key advisor to front‑office, Risk, Finance and other stakeholders for coverage businesses, providing insight and analysis of financial results.
  • Manage a team of controllers supporting the P&L validation processes and P&L attribution metrics for Volcker Reporting.
  • Responsible for key controls and SOX controls review and sign‑off.
  • Accountable for the accuracy of P&L and Balance Sheet through robust substantiation.
  • Inform senior management and key stakeholders of any significant irregularities.
  • Review and approve new product and material business changes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve/streamline processes leveraging AI technology.
  • Proactively monitor all operational issues pertaining to the trading portfolios assigned.

  • University degree with a professional accounting/finance designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, CMA) or an MBA is an asset.
  • 10+ years’ experience in Product Control, preferred with specific experiences in Equity Derivatives and Equity Financing businesses in a large financial services organization.
  • People Management experience leading large teams.
Depth & Scope
  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/disciplinary actions as required.
  • Oversees a team of Finance professionals for key business segments or a significantly large part of the organization.
  • Requires in‑depth shareholder and/or broad financial and business perspective.
  • Scope may include integration of activities and Finance support for several key business lines.
  • Focuses on longer‑range issues dealing with and solving highly sensitive, confidential and/or multifaceted and complex financial management issues.
  • Primary interface and high level resource to Business leaders on financial performance measures/business objectives/goals.
  • Integrates knowledge of the enterprise function’s or business segment’s overarching strategy in leading program design, policy formulation or operating standards within one or more areas of expertise.
  • Anticipates emerging business trends and regulatory/risk issues as a basis for recommending large‑scale product, technical, functional or operations improvements.
Education & Experience
  • Undergraduate degree.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Accounting or financial designation preferred.
  • People Management experience.
Customer Accountabilities
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with internal Finance business partners and other stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate relevant/meaningful recommendations on a range of finance management issues or related operational processes to all levels within the organization.
  • Ensure team collaboration with partners on business problems/issues and provide fact‑based analytical advice that aligns to strategy and drives shareholder value.
  • Liaise and effectively interact with internal/external auditors/regulators where applicable and ensure appropriate action is taken where required.
  • Act as subject matter expert as practice resource lead for own area and provide guidance/advice and recommendations to support dealings with internal/external partners.
