Loan Closing and Servicing Sr. Group Manager manages multiple teams through other managers. In-depth understanding of how own sub-function contributes to achieving the objectives of the function. A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors’ products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of the strategic direction of the function within the relevant part of the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/or area of expertise and related subject areas.
Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary.
Responsible for executing functional strategy in area managed. Determines approach to implementing functional strategy. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy of the area(s). Impact reflects size of team managed, strategic influence on the business and interaction with other functions or businesses. Full management responsibility for multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions, terminations and budget approval.
May be involved or responsible for diverse (cross-discipline) activities. Champions change initiatives, mobility, diversity, training, cost, compliance, and risk & control initiatives.
- Prepare and review loan documentation and oversee the life of loan servicing functions while providing support to a variety of tasks related to the loan process.
- Independently process, close and service loans within a complex loan operations environment.
- Anticipate and design changes to business systems, processes and tools within loan documentation.
- Lead and manage a large or complex loan team with responsibility for the full range of the function.
- Provide direction on leadership and people development for the team.
- Champion change initiatives, mobility, diversity, training, cost, compliance, and risk & control initiatives.
- Determine strategic approach and implement functional loan strategy.
- Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, and policy formulation.
- Partner with other Citi Product businesses such as cash management/treasury, etc., and strive to meet clients’ needs.
- Develop new concepts and approaches to solving issues affecting business or geographic region or a major segment of it.
- Maintain detailed understanding of the business and apply industry and market knowledge to drive improvements within the functional area.
- Review and analyse data on loan productivity and efficiency; make strategic decisions on solutions and improvements; present recommendations to organization and senior management.
- Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, influence and negotiate with senior leaders (across functions) and articulate complex recommendations.
- Build credibility and trust with the senior management team across the regions.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
- 15+ years of experience, including 8-10+ years of managerial experience.
- Individual must be accountable, ethical, results oriented, trustworthy and credible.
- Reasonable knowledge of business processes, systems and tools used in the loan process is required.
- Advanced understanding of loan processes, procedures, products and services.
- General awareness of managing, preparing and reviewing loan documentation.
