We are seeking a highly experienced credit analyst to join our team, specializing in the mortgage sector. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the mortgage industry, including mortgage originators, servicers, and specialty finance companies. The role will involve analyzing the creditworthiness of these entities, identifying potential risks, and providing recommendations to support informed credit decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end credit underwriting for agency-mortgage originators, servicers and specialty-finance firms and identify potential risks
- Reduce the existing onboarding backlog and establish a repeatable, high quality workflow for new mortgage-sector clients
- Serve as technical subject-matter expert on agency residential and commercial MBS, TBA, CMO and DUS products for the Institutional Credit Analyst Team, Sales and Trading teams
- Produce concise white-papers, risk-Client briefs and onboarding guides that become permanent knowledge assets for the wider Risk and ICAT organization
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the mortgage sector, including market trends, regulatory developments, and industry best practices.
- Prepare high-quality credit proposals, including recommendations on credit ratings, limits and risk strategies, to support credit decisions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including coverage bankers, business lines, and risk teams, to provide credit expertise and support.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments, regulatory changes, and market trends, and apply this knowledge to credit analysis and decision-making.
- Participate in credit committees, due diligence meetings, and other forums to provide credit expertise and support.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in credit analysis, with a focus on the mortgage sector, including mortgage originators, servicers and specialty finance companies.
- In-depth knowledge of the mortgage industry, including market trends, regulatory developments, and industry best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and identify potential risks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and communicate credit recommendations to senior management.
- Strong understanding of credit risk management principles and practices, including credit rating models, risk assessment methodologies and credit portfolio management techniques.
- Experience with Agency Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) and Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) markets.
- Knowledge of mortgage-related products, such as Delegated Underwriting and Servicing (DUS) bonds.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards, such as those related to credit risk management and mortgage lending.
