Position Summary

Responsible for the financial monitoring, analyzing, reconciliation and reporting of departmental financial activities, sponsored program grants, departmental research, clinical trials, industrial agreements and/or other restricted accounts as relevant.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop financial forecasts and/or business plans as needed. Prepare prospective and retrospective financial analyses; coordinate business plan development; develop revenue, compensation and/or expense assumptions.
  • Manage operating and/or capital budgets as needed. Review budget proposals for governmental, industry-based and/or private funding initiatives.
  • Design complex, multilayered financial models to forecast profit/loss statements for faculty recruits, studies, new ventures and/or routine department operations.
  • Create financial and management routine and ad‑hoc reports and analyses: design and review financial, budget, operating and other statistical reports. Independently investigate, explain and correct discrepancies, variances and deficits.
  • Responsible for reimbursement/disbursement activities as needed.
  • Educate faculty and staff on proper accounting procedures. Audit operations to ensure compliance; track issues until satisfactorily resolved.
  • Track and record financial activity within the enterprise financial system, databases and/or spreadsheets.
  • Coordinate process improvement projects; recommend actions to improve efficiency and eliminate waste.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
Experience

BA/BS degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Healthcare related field preferred.

Approximately 2–3 years of progressive experience in administration/financial management.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Experience with in an academic medical center setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications.
  • Experience designing and developing financial models.
  • Detail oriented and superb organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidential and professional relationships with a variety of personnel.
