The firm manages $500M+ across early‑stage venture funds and a public markets hedge fund. We invest $500k-$5M into early‑stage companies that align with this mission.

The Role

We are seeking a new Associate to join our venture capital investing team. The Associate’s primary responsibilities will include:

connecting with and building out a network of world‑class founders, operators, and investors, to help us identify early emerging trends and find high potential startups

sourcing early‑stage investments across a variety of categories, including stablecoin rails, onchain finance, agentic finance, open and sovereign AI, applied AI, prediction markets, and other frontier domains

performing thorough due diligence for potential investments

conducting and publishing thematic research on emerging technological trends

monitoring and supporting portfolio companies and founders

We are open to candidates with varying levels of work experience, though prior VC experience is a strong plus. The candidate should have the following qualifications:

Excellent social and communication skills, analytical abilities, and attention to detail

A demonstrated passion for emerging technologies, and deep curiosity about the world and the future

Evidence of potential and a strong desire to develop exceptional investment instincts

Based in or willing to relocate to NYC. We work in‑person out of an office on Union Square four days per week.

The Associate will get to work with and learn from northisland.ventures Travis Scher, Managing Partner, and Greg Rosenthal, Principal. While the first few months will involve hands‑on training, the Associate must be a self‑starter and independent thinker who can operate with minimal supervision.

We maintain ultra‑high standards for work product but have no tolerance for big egos.

Compensation

Base salary will range from $175k to $250k, with flexibility for exceptional experience. The Associate will also receive a year‑end bonus and carry participation. There is a path to promotion and greater compensation over time.
