Join our D.E.Shaw Macro team in New York. The D.E.Shaw group seeks traders to join its Macro team in New York, focused on foreign exchange, developing, and emerging markets. What you’ll do day-to-day- Formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information to make trading decisions.
- Collect and analyze data and develop algorithms, forecasting models, and trading tools that will be used to trade in the U.S. markets.
- Analyze profit and loss in our trading portfolio and improve the current trading strategies.
- Generate a daily profit and loss report and assist with the updating of our database.
- Monitor our trading book positions during the day.
- Study and explore new trading strategies and run back-test analyses.
- Develop and improve our existing trading tools.
- Utilize statistical and machine learning techniques to generate trading ideas and manage risk.
- Analyze trading ideas using several variations of regression and other data analysis techniques.
- Analyze position risks using statistical, optimization, and other mathematical techniques.
- Make extensive use of derivative securities, such as options, which requires the application of financial mathematics and algorithms.
- Scrutinize supply and demand balance in currency markets to identify possible future changes in the balance.
A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field of study is required.
Two years of experience in the following is required: mathematical modeling and time-series forecasting; data analysis, including regression modeling and statistical data processing;
Microsoft Excel, Python, and Jupyter Lab; providing input to, configuring, and interpreting the output of financial pricing and valuation models; economic and financial flow data, including balance of payments data; back-testing and validating quantitative forecasting and trading models using historical market and economic time-series data; building and interpreting scenario simulations to assess portfolio, revenue, and risk outcomes; designing technical specifications for data-driven financial software tools and working with engineering teams to implement and deploy those tools;
and designing and coding automation workflows for gathering, cleaning, and analyzing financial data.
The annual base salary for this position is $275,000–$300,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
