Overview
Ares Secondaries Group is expanding its Credit Secondaries platform and seeks an Associate to join the New York office. The Associate will support transaction management, business development, investment decision‑making and portfolio management in a dynamic, growth‑oriented mandate.
Responsibilities- Assist in the fundamental due diligence and analytical efforts during the investment process.
- Lead transaction teams throughout the entire transaction process, managing and reviewing the work of junior team members.
- Represent the firm confidently in the global investment community at marketing meetings, diligence sessions, investor meetings, conferences, and other events.
- Build a network of contacts in the credit secondaries industry through deal negotiations, due diligence activities, and attendance at industry conferences.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative credit analysis, synthesize data, summarize trends, and analyze macro‑level trends for diversified credit portfolios.
- Organize due diligence materials, develop the investment thesis, and guide/judge junior team members’ due diligence activities.
- Conduct diligence sessions with third parties including brokers, LPs, and GP managers.
- Oversee the development of internal investment committee materials and communicate investment recommendations and supporting facts to the investment team and/or committee.
- Manage the closing process, including the preparation and confirmation of legal documentation and related materials.
- Assist in portfolio analytics and fund performance monitoring.
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent); superior academic achievement at a top-tier undergraduate program in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2years of relevant work experience, with secondary investment experience required.
- Advanced modeling and analytical capabilities, with the ability to distill complex problems into key drivers.
- Proficiency in combining disparate datasets and assumptions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a professional, polished demeanor.
- Evidence of intellectual curiosity, creative problem‑solving, and adaptability.
- Self‑motivated, entrepreneurial spirit, capable of handling increased independence and managerial responsibilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment with senior and junior professionals.
Base Salary Range: $ - $ (may vary based on qualifications). Total compensation may include a discretionary performance‑based bonus.
