The Senior Analyst Underwriting role will support the evaluation and management of a diverse portfolio of real estate debt and equity investments. This position works closely with the Torchlight Underwriting Group, which is responsible for underwriting and conducting due diligence on complex commercial real estate transactions, providing credit analysis and opinions on commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), and supporting ongoing portfolio surveillance initiatives.

In addition, the role will collaborate with the Trading team, which oversees the company’s public real estate debt investments across multiple asset classes, including office, retail, multifamily, hospitality, and industrial properties throughout the United States. The candidate will be responsible for delivering both quantitative and qualitative underwriting support across a range of investment activities, contributing to the evaluation, execution, and monitoring of debt and equity transactions.

Job Description
  • Coordinate property-level diligence and complete underwriting models for CMBS and other commercial real estate financing transactions across multifamily, industrial, hospitality, retail, and office sectors
  • Support the development of strategies for both existing and prospective investments, including engaging with market participants, conducting borrower-, asset-, and market-level analyses, and building financial models across a range of scenarios
  • Monitor and perform ongoing surveillance of the firm’s public CMBS investment portfolio, including tracking performance, identifying credit risks, and providing updates on underlying collateral and market conditions
  • Partner with senior underwriters to perform due diligence on prospective investment opportunities across the capital stack including Senior Mortgages, Mezzanine Loans, B-Notes, Preferred Equity, JV Equity and NPLs
  • Support the investment process by preparing investment committee materials, including analysis of key terms, risks and mitigants, underwriting assumptions, cash flow projections, sponsor evaluations, and market dynamics
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects and initiatives that support the investment team’s research-driven approach
Qualifications
  • 2–4 years of experience in commercial real estate, with exposure to one or more of the following: loan origination, underwriting, loan workouts, or debt/equity asset management
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, real estate, or a related field preferred
  • Strong interest in commercial real estate with solid understanding of debt structures and core financial concepts
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain high standards of integrity and professionalism, with the ability to maintain confidentiality, adhere to company policies, and contribute to a collaborative, respectful, and team-oriented work environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with Argus is a plus
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Specific compensation is determined through interviews and a review of relevant education, experience, training, skills, geographic location and alignment with market data. Additionally, certain positions may be eligible to receive a discretionary bonus as determined by bonus program guidelines, position eligibility and SitusAMC Senior Management approval. SitusAMC offers PTO and paid holidays, the terms of which are set forth in the program policies.
