Construction Manager

About the Role

We are looking for a hands‑on Construction Controller to run our entire financial operations. If you love building clean internal controls, digging into job‑costing spreadsheets, and creating order out of operational chaos, this is your home.

You will lead everything from month‑end close to managing our banking lines of credit, payroll, and Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) reporting. The ideal candidate isn’t afraid to wear multiple hats, interface directly with the company founders, and aggressively fix cash leaks in our procurement chain.

• Own the Ledger:
  Manage all daily financial operations including AP, AR, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Job Costing & WIP Tracking:
  Track active materials purchasing and labor allocation job‑by‑job to identify budget variances early before they eat our margins.
• The Receipt Chase (AP Management):
  Supervise procurement tracking. Review and code hundreds of material receipts from field superintendents and foremen to ensure proper cost coding in Quick Books/Sage.
• Cash Flow Optimization:
  Monitor our short‑term liquidity, working capital requirements, and material supply accounts to ensure we can make payroll every single Friday without being squeezed by late‑paying General Contractors.
• Subcontractor & Vendor Compliance:
  Enforce fraud‑prevention controls around material order validations, change orders, and unauthorized employee purchase card activity.

• Industry
  
  Experience:
  
  5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years strictly inside the construction trades (HVAC, Electrical, Concrete, Plumbing, or Framing). Please do not apply if you do not have construction experience.
• The Tech Stack:
  Expert proficiency in Quick Books Online or Sage 100/300, combined with project management platforms like Procore, Buildertrend, or Knowify.
• The Excel Wizard:
  Advanced ability to manipulate data, run rolling 13‑week cash forecasts, and build transparent financial packages for our lenders and bonding companies.
• The Thick‑Skinned Operator:
  Excellent communication skills. You need to be comfortable translating financial rules cleanly to company leadership, while firmly demanding compliance from field guys who hate doing paperwork.
