Our Restructuring and Special Situations Group ("RSSG") advises both large and middle market companies, financial sponsors and creditor groups in financially distressed situations, both in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings as well as out-of-court restructuring, capital raising and strategic advisory transactions. In the last decade, the group has been involved in many of the largest and most high-profile reorganizations, including restructurings for PG&E, J Crew, iHeart, WeWork, Revlon, Intelsat, Saks Fifth Avenue, Del Monte, Tropicana and Puerto Rico.

In a restructuring transaction, a wide range of strategic advisory services are provided including providing advice on recapitalizations, reorganizations, exchange offers and distressed mergers and acquisitions, raising debt and equity capital and providing expert witness testimony on a range of topics including corporate valuations.
The New Business Research Analyst ("NBRA") will report to the RSSG Partners and the Chief Operating Officer ("COO") of RSSG.
Key Aspects of the NBRA role- Work with the Partners and COO to screen and identify companies/industries that are at risk or will become at risk of increased defaults
- Proactively work with and present research and analysis to RSSG leadership in support of new business development efforts, including financial modeling work to analyze company cash flows and sector/industry analysis and research
- Prepare company and industry/sector presentations for both internal and external use
- Participate in business development efforts and meetings with hedge funds, private equity funds and law firms
- Assist RSSG deal teams with research and market data requests
- Maintain internal databases and market statistics for use in marketing materials and presentations
- Work with the Partners and COO on RSSG financial budget forecasting, quarterly reporting requirements and other internal RSSG projects for quarterly management and board presentations
- Bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of financial services experience
- Knowledge of the high-yield/distressed/leverage loan market, restructuring and the credit markets broadly
- Ability to build basic cash flow financial models and develop presentations
- Hands-on experience using generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) to support research and workflow efficiency
- A self-starter with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong work ethic and results-oriented mentality
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment and to handle multiple projects at a time
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power Point
Expected annualized base salary of $95,000 to $135,000. This range represents the low and high ends of the expected annualized base salary for this position. The specific base salary received by any employee will be informed by a number of factors, including but not limited to, role level and scope, location, candidate's relevant qualifications, skills and experience. Base salary is one component of PJT Partners' compensation structure.
In addition to base salary, PJT Partners' compensation structure may include additional rewards, incentives and benefits, including but not limited to, a discretionary bonus component.
