Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Senior Associate – Operational Risk to support and strengthen its global Operational Risk and Resilience program. This role will be responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating operational risks across multiple business functions while ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations and industry best practices.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing operational risk frameworks, conducting risk assessments, investigating operational risk events, and partnering with business leaders to improve processes and strengthen internal controls. This position offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally with investment teams, operations, technology, legal, compliance, and executive leadership in a highly collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the ongoing execution and enhancement of the Operational Risk Framework across the organization.
- Conduct Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) and evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls.
- Investigate operational risk events, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
- Identify process weaknesses and collaborate with business stakeholders to implement control improvements.
- Monitor operational risk issues and ensure timely remediation through effective issue management.
- Perform operational risk assessments for new business initiatives, products, and third-party vendors.
- Support Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) and vendor due diligence activities.
- Produce operational risk reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior leadership and governance committees.
- Assist with Business Continuity and Operational Resilience initiatives.
- Maintain operational risk systems and support end-user training.
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, Technology, Operations, Investment Teams, and senior management on operational risk initiatives.
- Support regulatory requests, internal audits, and governance activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum 5 years of Operational Risk Management experience.
- Experience with in Asset Management, Investment Management, Wealth Management, or Banking.
- Strong knowledge of Operational Risk Frameworks and Risk Governance.
- Hands-on experience conducting RCSAs, control assessments, and operational risk reviews.
- Experience performing root cause analysis for operational risk events.
- Knowledge of Operational Resilience, Business Continuity, and Third-Party Risk Management.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Operational Risk/GRC platforms such as OneSumX, Archer, Metric Stream, Open Pages, or similar solutions is preferred.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Operational Risk professional with a strong background in financial services, particularly within asset or investment management. They possess hands-on experience managing operational risk frameworks, conducting RCSAs, investigating operational risk events, and improving internal controls. They are comfortable partnering with senior leaders, presenting risk findings, and driving cross-functional initiatives while ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to influence stakeholders are essential for success in this role.
