Group

Tax Team

Morrison’s Group Tax team supports the tax affairs of Morrison, its managed entities and investment acquisitions across global mandates. The team works across a broad range of taxes, investments and transactions, helping the business navigate complex domestic and international tax rules and make informed decisions.

Based within Finance, the team partners closely with Investment, Legal and in-house and investee company finance teams to manage tax risk and support Morrison’s global investment activity.

About the Role

The Tax Director/Senior Manager will play a key role in providing tax advisory, compliance and risk management support across Morrison’s global investment portfolios and managed entities. Reporting to the Head of Tax, this role will support investment activity through the full lifecycle, from diligence and structuring through execution, ownership and exit.

  • Provide tax advice in relation to the ongoing management of Morrison’s investment portfolio.
  • Manage tax risk across portfolio investments and Morrison-managed entities.
  • Oversee ongoing tax compliance requirements, including managing external tax compliance service providers.
  • Support tax matters relating to acquisitions, disposals and other major transactions.
  • Advise investment teams throughout the investment lifecycle, including diligence, structuring, execution, holding period activities and exits.
  • Coordinate the tax aspects of investment acquisitions across various industries and portfolios, including managing external advisors and lawyers, due diligence, structuring, legal documentation and tax ruling processes.
  • Partner with investment directors on tax assumptions in financial models and communicate complex tax concepts clearly and commercially.
  • Assist with investment committee and board papers, including communicating tax issues, progress updates and post-acquisition integration matters.
  • Coordinate tax return preparation with external advisors and review returns prior to filing.
  • Develop and maintain transfer pricing documentation.
  • Monitor developments in tax law across Morrison-managed entities and support implementation where applicable.
  • Contribute to tax training for Morrison staff.
  • Manage relationships with revenue authorities, including coordinating tax authority reviews and audits.
About You

Finance, accounting, business and/or law degree.

  • Professional certification such as JD/LLM, CPA or equivalent.
  • 6-10 years’ tax advisory experience, preferably within a leading law firm, Big 4 accounting firm or comparable in-house transactional tax function.
  • Strong local tax knowledge, with developing knowledge of international tax requirements and structuring.
  • Experience across private equity, infrastructure, funds management and M&A would be advantageous.
  • Ability to quickly identify tax issues, drive solutions and manage tax risk in collaboration with transaction teams.
  • Sound transactional judgement and the ability to prioritise effectively while managing multiple transactions.
  • Enjoys working in a high-performance, fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative team player who contributes to group objectives and goals.
