Description

The Finance Director is a senior finance leader responsible for providing financial oversight across Accredited's MGA program business and reinsurance portfolio. This role leads the finance review of new and existing programs to ensure they are financially sound, appropriately collateralized, accurately forecasted, and aligned with the Company's risk appetite and strategic objectives.

Working closely with Finance, Treasury, Underwriting, Reinsurance, Program Management, Risk, Legal, Accounting, Claims, and senior leadership, the Finance Director evaluates program economics, financial assumptions, collateral sufficiency, profitability, and emerging financial risks while providing independent recommendations to executive management. The role also oversees the preparation and governance of quarterly reinsurance reporting, collateral monitoring, and financial forecasting.

  • Lead the Finance workstream supporting the evaluation and onboarding of new and renewed MGA/program business opportunities.
  • Review program economics, including premium projections, commissions, fees, taxes, reinsurance structures, expenses, collateral requirements, profitability, and financial assumptions.
  • Perform financial due diligence by assessing profitability, capital utilization, liquidity, cash flow, collateral exposure, and downside scenarios.
  • Partner with Underwriting, Reinsurance, Treasury, Accounting, Program Management, Legal, Risk, FP&A, and Claims to ensure financial readiness prior to program launch.
  • Oversee collateral governance, including letters of credit, trust accounts, funds withheld arrangements, recoverables, and collateral sufficiency.
  • Monitor reinsurer financial strength, counter party credit risk, recoverability, and collateral adequacy while identifying emerging financial risks.
  • Prepare and review Schedule F reporting, quarterly reinsurance reporting, collateral reporting, cash flow forecasts, and executive management presentations.
  • Develop executive reporting, dashboards, profitability analysis, and governance materials supporting senior leadership, Risk Committees, Reinsurance Committees, and Board reporting.
  • Evaluate financial performance, forecast accuracy, program profitability, and emerging trends while recommending improvements and corrective actions.
  • Maintain governance frameworks, documentation standards, financial controls, and finance review processes supporting program oversight.
  • Supervise and develop the Senior Reinsurance Accountant responsible for quarterly reinsurance reporting, collateral reporting, and forecasting activities.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance and independent recommendations to senior leadership regarding program readiness, collateral exposure, profitability, and financial risk.
  • Drive continuous improvement of financial reporting, collateral monitoring, forecasting processes, and governance practices.
  • To maintain compliance with any applicable US, or International statutory or regulatory obligation as required by the role. This includes but not limited to obligations arising from:
    • The prudent management of the business.
    • Placing due regard on the interests of customers.
    • Observing rules on Sanctions and financial crime.
    • Regulatory requirements and local licensing restrictions.
    • Promoting and follow the Group’s whistleblowing procedures
    • Promote and provide guidance to reports in relation to the Group’s Whistleblowing policies and procedures.
    • Where applicable, following the Company’s Consumer Duty principles to deliver good outcomes for retail customers.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong knowledge of insurance finance, reinsurance, MGA/program business, collateral management, and financial reporting.
  • Extensive experience evaluating program economics, profitability, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and business case analysis.
  • Strong understanding of reinsurance structures, recoverables, collateral arrangements, letters of credit, trust agreements, and ceded balances.
