VP C&I Credit Underwriter

Our client, a regional bank operating in the New York metro area, is seeking a C&I Underwriter to evaluate and structure commercial and industrial credit requests. The role supports relationship managers by producing credit analysis, structuring loans, and monitoring portfolio risk in line with the bank's credit policy.

• Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow to assess borrower creditworthiness
• Prepare credit memos and present recommendations to credit committee
• Structure loan terms, covenants, and collateral requirements for C&I facilities
• Perform industry and market risk analysis relevant to borrower operations
• Spread financials and build cash flow projections
• Monitor existing portfolio for covenant compliance and early risk indicators
• Coordinate with relationship managers, credit officers, and legal/closing teams
• Ensure underwriting complies with internal policy and regulatory requirements (OCC, FDIC, or state banking regulations as applicable)

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
• 3-7 years of C&I underwriting experience at a bank or financial institution
• Formal credit training (bank-sponsored credit program preferred)
• Strong financial statement analysis and cash flow modeling skills
• Working knowledge of loan documentation and covenant structuring
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with Moody's, nCino, or similar credit systems a plus
• Understanding of relevant industries served by the bank's C&I portfolio (e.g., manufacturing, healthcare, real estate-adjacent, professional services)
