Purpose:Real Estate, Gaming and Leisure (REGAL) is a core platform and premier banking team at Scotiabank with high visibility and deal velocity. Scotiabank’s U.S. REGAL group has a dedicated team that works in close partnership across many product groups supporting our clients globally. Our experienced professionals’ partner with many of the industry’s most sophisticated owners, operators, and developers across all sectors including multifamily, industrial, hospitality, retail, self-storage, office and specialty asset sectors.
WhatYou’ll Do
- As an Associate, you will play an important role in contributing to the overall success of the Global Corporate & Investment Banking team. You will be a valued member of a cohesive team focused on delivering individual and team goals in support of the broader business strategy. Responsibilities and activities will include:
- Championing a client-centric culture focused on deepening relationships, leveraging broader Bank capabilities and delivering solutions across Scotiabank’s global footprint.
- Supporting client relationship management and the full transaction lifecycle, from client planning and origination through underwriting, approval, execution, documentation and portfolio monitoring.
- Preparing financial models, profitability analyses, diligence materials, credit memos, executive materials and client presentations, with a focus on credit risks, mitigants, repayment sources and approval requirements.
- Conducting company, sector and transaction analysis across real estate, gaming and leisure clients, with a focus on credit quality, liquidity, leverage, debt capacity, asset-level fundamentals and market trends.
- Supporting bilateral and syndicated loan execution, including workstream coordination, internal and external counsel engagement, documentation and closing.
- Partnering with product groups, including Structured Finance, Derivatives, FX, Commodities, Global Transaction Banking, Debt Capital Markets and Equity Capital Markets, to identify and deliver integrated financing, risk management and treasury solutions.
- Monitoring client relationships and portfolio exposures, including performance, covenants, annual reviews, renewals, amendments, waivers, refinancing opportunities and market trends.
- Maintaining strong controls and ensure compliance with operational risk, regulatory, AML/ATF, conduct risk and internal policy requirements.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent
