As they continue to build scalable investments across the energy transition space, they are seeking an investment analyst to join their growing, lean team.
The Role: Investment Analyst, Renewable Energy
The Mission: The Investment Analyst will focus on financial modeling, transaction support, research, and due diligence to underwrite, execute, and manage investments, primarily for contracted renewable energy projects. You’ll support the preferred equity investment platform and senior investment team members.
Your Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Conduct the initial screening and commercial analysis of new investment opportunities in distributed solar, battery storage, and other renewables assets
- Build and maintain transaction-level financial models, including partnership flips, SPV cash flow waterfalls, pricing models, and basic return and downside sensitivity analysis
- Analyze and price out sponsor models using key assumptions against internal benchmarks and market data
- Support deal execution by coordinating data collection, processing, due diligence, drafting key parts of investment committee memos, and presentation materials
- Conduct market and policy research surrounding clean energy tax policies in the US market, transferability markets, tax equity/partnership flip structures, and state-level incentives as they impact potential investments
- Prepare platform-level models for potential co-investors and lending partners
An ideal candidate has/is:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, mathematics, or a related area of study
- 1-3 years of experience in renewable energy project finance, infrastructure private equity, tax equity, investment banking, or a similar analytical role
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, including experience with detailed cash flow models in Microsoft Excel
- Solid quantitative and analytic skills with the ability to work with large data sets
- A high attention to detail, clear written and verbal communication, and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work in a lean team environment with multiple work streams
- A genuine interest in the energy transition and a passion for renewable energy finance
