Overview
Moelis Private Capital Advisory (PCA) is a global business that provides strategic advisory and distribution to private fund sponsors and institutional investors. The Secondary Advisory team focuses on advising institutional investors on liquidity solutions across the private capital universe. This Associate role works on LP‑led secondary market transactions, including single‑fund and multi‑fund LP portfolio sales, structured and preferred equity solutions, deferred and staggered closing structures, NAV‑based financings, and other portfolio‑management solutions.
Responsibilities- Perform portfolio‑, fund‑, and company‑level due diligence and valuation analysis for diverse LP portfolios.
- Prepare marketing materials (portfolio overviews, teasers, data books, etc.) and other transaction‑related documentation.
- Conduct financial analysis and modeling, including LP portfolio valuations, cash flow and NAV projections, pricing analyses, LBOs, and waterfall calculations.
- Assist in managing buy‑side investor outreach and due diligence (data room management, GP reference calls, investor Q&A).
- Contribute to responses to due diligence requests from potential secondary buyers and coordinate information flow between selling LPs and prospective purchasers.
- Communicate and collaborate regularly with Moelis’ industry and financial sponsor coverage team members.
- Maintain databases of secondary market transactions, LP portfolio pricing benchmarks, buy‑side investor profiles, and market data to support marketing materials and client advice.
- Conduct secondary market research on LP portfolio pricing, deal volumes, and liquidity trends across the alternatives industry.
- Minimum of 3–5 years post‑college experience in financial services.
- Strong academic record and understanding of the private equity industry and the secondaries market, especially LP‑led transactions and institutional portfolio management.
- Highly motivated with a strong desire to learn.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical and technical skills (extensive experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Creative problem‑solving ability.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Organized with good judgment and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a broader team.
USD $175,000–$225,000.
