We are seeking a Strategic Finance Manager to join a high-growth consumer products organization. This individual will serve as a key partner to executive leadership, helping drive financial strategy through sophisticated modeling, business analysis, capital allocation, and long-term planning.
The ideal candidate began their career in Investment Banking before transitioning into corporate finance or strategic finance within a consumer packaged goods (CPG), consumer products, retail, or omnichannel business. This person is intellectually curious, highly analytical, and comfortable influencing executive-level decisions through data-driven insights.
This is not a traditional FP&A role. The position is focused on evaluating strategic initiatives, supporting corporate development, optimizing financial performance, and helping shape the long-term direction of the business.
Strategic Finance Manager Responsibilities:- Lead financial analysis supporting executive decision making, long-term growth initiatives, and strategic business planning.
- Build and maintain sophisticated financial models to evaluate acquisitions, new product launches, pricing strategies, capital investments, and other strategic initiatives.
- Partner with executive leadership to develop annual operating plans, long-range financial plans, and strategic forecasts.
- Evaluate revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, cash flow, working capital, and profitability across products, customers, channels, and business units.
- Develop scenario analyses and sensitivity models to assess business risks, investment opportunities, and financial outcomes.
- Prepare executive-level presentations, board materials, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
- Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, Accounting, and Product teams to evaluate business performance and drive profitability.
- Analyze customer, product, channel, and promotional profitability while identifying opportunities to improve financial performance.
- Support corporate development initiatives including acquisitions, strategic partnerships, market expansion opportunities, and financial due diligence as needed.
- Monitor financial and operational KPIs, providing actionable insights and recommendations to improve business performance.
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis while identifying risks and opportunities throughout the fiscal year.
- Improve financial planning, reporting, and analytical processes through automation, enhanced reporting, and scalable financial models.
- Partner with Accounting to ensure alignment between financial reporting, management reporting, and business performance metrics.
- Present financial results, business insights, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership on a regular basis.
- Stay informed on consumer industry trends, competitive dynamics, and market conditions to support strategic decision making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- MBA, CPA, or CFA designation is preferred.
- 6–10+ years of progressive experience in Investment Banking, Strategic Finance, Corporate Finance, Corporate Development, or FP&A.
- Prior Investment Banking experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with in a consumer packaged goods (CPG), consumer products, retail, beauty, food & beverage, apparel, or omnichannel business is required.
- Demonstrated experience building advanced financial models, valuation analyses, and business cases for executive decision making.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, capital allocation, business valuation, and strategic planning.
- Experience supporting executive leadership with board presentations, long-range planning, and strategic financial analysis.
- Proven ability to evaluate revenue growth, profitability, pricing strategies, and investment opportunities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills with exceptional financial modeling capabilities.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial planning platforms such as Anaplan, Adaptive Planning, One Stream, Hyperion, SAP, Oracle, or similar systems is preferred.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex financial information into actionable business recommendations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while partnering effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Proven track record of influencing strategic business decisions through data-driven financial analysis.
