Financial Analyst
The New York City Employees’ Retirement System (NYCERS) is recruiting for one (1) Full-Time Associate Retirement Benefits Examiner, Level 1 in the Eligibility & Vesting unit within the Retirement & Pension Benefits Division. Their duties include the following:
- Review documents, related materials and Directives for completeness and accuracy for the calculation and handling of computing benefits for Service, Vested and Disability retirees.
- Enter, obtain and/or update pensioner’s data information into the appropriate computer system.
- Communicate and obtain information from/to pensioners, other City/tater agencies, NYCERES business units and /or other retirement systems.
- Perform a variety of administrative tasks such as drafting Adhoc letters, NYCEwork letters, prepare documents for scanning, prepare and/or review various listings.
- Review and maintain work items including taking ownership, updating work status, updating case notes, transferring work items, pending and close work items in the worker, checker and supervisor queue of the NYCEwork system.
- Respond to call center requests, or direct inquiries to other staff for their response.

Minimum Qualificationsand/or c) in a position requiring the application of law, rules and regulations and the use of statistical, actuarial or similar tables; or
All candidates must have a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and at least 2 years of experience as described in "1" above.
- Must have strong analytical skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment and able to meet multiple deadlines.
- Basic math skills.
- Intermediate level of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Written and oral communication should be clear and on a professional level.

Residency RequirementNew York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
