Location: New York

New Fortress Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: NFE) is a global energy infrastructure company founded to help address energy poverty and accelerate the world’s transition to reliable, affordable and clean energy. The company owns and operates natural gas and liquefied natural gas (“LNG”) infrastructure, ships and logistics assets to rapidly deliver turnkey energy solutions to global markets. The company has liquefaction, regasification and power generation operations in the United States, Puerto Rico, Brazil and Mexico.

The company has marine operations with vessels operating under time charters and in the spot market globally.

Our world-class team has expertise across power, infrastructure, transportation, logistics and LNG, and we have developed a proven track record building and operating liquefaction facilities, onshore and offshore regasification terminals, pipelines, power plants, and innovative LNG delivery solutions.

We believe that everyone should have access to affordable, cleaner energy. However, billions of people around the planet still lack this critical element for quality of life and economic growth. We are driven by our vision of a world in which electricity is no longer a luxury good, and we are looking for talented, driven individuals to help us light the world with cleaner, more affordable energy solutions.

The Role:

We are seeking a Tax Manager to be based in the company's New York headquarters. The position will lead and manage NFE’s U.S. federal, state and local, and non-U.S. tax compliance function, ensuring the accurate and timely filing of all tax returns and supporting the company’s SOX-compliant tax control environment.

We are entrepreneurial, fast- moving, and motivated by a desire to change the way that energy and electricity are delivered around the world. We are looking for a motivated, highly experienced individual with shared beliefs and passion to come and help drive the journey.

What You Will Do:
  • Manage the preparation and timely, accurate filing of NFE’s consolidated U.S. federal income tax return, state and local returns, and non-U.S. income tax returns, working with outside preparers and consultants.
  • Own and maintain NFE’s global tax compliance calendar, tracking filing deadlines, extensions, and estimated tax payments across all federal, state, local, and international jurisdictions.
  • Manage indirect tax compliance, including sales and use tax, property tax, and other transactional tax filings, registrations, and audits.
  • Respond to and manage federal, state, local, and international tax audits, notices, and information document requests, coordinating with outside counsel and advisors as needed.
  • Maintain and strengthen tax-related SOX internal controls and supporting documentation to meet NFE’s public company reporting and audit requirements.
  • Manage tax compliance software and workflow tools (e.g., One Source) used for return preparation, provision, and recordkeeping.
  • Support the Director of Tax Operations on transfer pricing documentation and compliance, and assist with international tax planning and structuring.
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree with a CPA. Advanced degree in tax preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant tax compliance experience at a Big Four accounting firm or comparable company.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax compliance and reporting requirements; experience with non-U.S. tax compliance preferred.
  • Experience managing tax compliance calendars, return filings, and coordination with outside preparers and tax authorities.
  • Familiarity with SOX internal controls and public company tax reporting requirements.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional projects.
  • Initiative and ability to act independently in a complex work environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – ability to communicate clearly and precisely, and to command the respect of business colleagues.
  • The ability to work well with an array of personalities and counter parties, including tax authorities and outside advisors.
  • Quantitative skills (e.g., ability to create and/or review Excel spreadsheets and tax compliance software outputs).
  • Impeccable integrity and a strong personal work ethic.

As an NFE employee, you'll enjoy unique benefits including

  • a generous vacation policy
  • medical, dental, and vision coverage

  • free short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance
