What is the opportunity?

The Associate, Corporate Banking - Power, Utilities and Infrastructure (“PU&I”) candidate will be responsible for structuring, execution and management of bank debt for a diversified client base including, regulated utilities, unregulated power, renewables and project finance. As part of the client coverage team, the candidate will optimize the use of the Bank’s balance sheet in connection with Capital Markets / Investment Banking / Sales & Trading relationship goals

Job Description What will you do?

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in structuring and executing transactions across the US PU&I sector. Scope of transactions includes but is not limited to: acquisition loans, bridge loans, corporate revolvers and project or asset financings
  • Lead the credit underwriting process and collaborate with requisite internal stakeholders to execute the transaction
  • Preparation of credit submission materials and other documentation related to the transaction approval and closing process (including assistance related to loan syndications, pipeline management and strategy)
  • Assist in relationship coverage across the U.S. PU&I sectors for Corporate Banking, including secondary responsibility for the identification of cross sell opportunities in all RBC Capital Markets active products and markets
  • Negotiate requisite legal documents related to executing transactions
  • Ensure timely updates on client, industry and market performance, particularly in connection with any signs of potential deterioration or developments requiring amendments / waivers to existing loan documents
What do you need to success?
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Business, Economics, Mathematics or other quantitative fields, CFA or other relevant professional designation, or acceptable work experience in corporate lending / finance
  • Minimum 5 of years of related work experience in corporate finance, project finance and/or corporate banking
  • Relevant experience with the PU&I industry. Project finance experience preferred
  • Strong financial modeling abilities, as well as superior writing and presentation skills including high proficiency with Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain relationships at all levels within and outside of the organization
  • Ability to take initiative and function independently balanced with strong team skills
  • Develop and train junior team members

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $160,000 - $180,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance;

and paid time-off plan.
