Job Description:The Global Financial Crime (GFC) Executive I contributes to the strategic direction and execution of enterprise-wide money laundering, economic sanctions, and fraud compliance and operational risk practices in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance. The executive serves as a trusted advisor to Global Compliance and Operational Risk (GCOR) Officers supporting Front Line Units (FLUs) and Control Functions (CFs), as well as senior leaders across the organization.
This executive will lead a team of Global Financial Crimes Risk Managers and Specialists responsible for the strategic development and execution of the Global Financial Crimes program for Global Markets U.S . The leader will oversee a team of subject matter experts supporting Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC), Equities, and Prime Brokerage businesses, while maintaining day-to-day engagement with key business stakeholders.
The executive will provide a holistic financial crimes risk perspective, establish strategic priorities, and direct project execution across the team. As the primary point of contact for audits and regulatory examinations, the leader must effectively navigate relationships across multiple Front Line Unit executives, senior business leaders, GCOR, and GFC stakeholders. This role is responsible for identifying opportunities to enhance consistency, efficiency, and effectiveness across Global Markets while driving collaboration across GFC and GCOR partners.
Success requires a balance of strategic leadership and tactical execution, coupled with strong communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills.
In this capacity, the executive will lead financial crimes-related regulatory engagements, examinations, and industry forums. The leader will elevate significant financial crimes compliance and operational risk matters, including emerging regulatory developments, through appropriate governance routines and management and board-level committees. Additionally, the executive will direct independent review and challenge activities, oversee remediation of identified issues, evaluate complex risk matters, and recommend appropriate action plans to strengthen the control environment.
The leader will also drive accountability across the FLU to address identified challenges and ensure the timely resolution of financial crimes risk issues.
- Set strategic direction and manage a group of subject matter experts for the Global Markets
- Lead team in the identification of financial crimes risk and setting plans to mitigate identified risks
- Work independently to drive execution but also coordinate across GFC Risk Managers to drive consistency in practices across the teams
- Direct the development and implementation of financial crimes policies and standards with a particular focus on regulatory changes and developments
- Create and manage GFC Coverage Plan which defines the scope of coverage for GM-US
- Drafts independent financial crimes risk management reporting to GCOR, senior FLU leaders and legal entity boards
- Create, develop, establish and execute GFC, FLU and Enterprise risk tolerance metrics that are reflective of key risks in GM - US
- Monitor and evaluate financial crimes related regulatory changes applicable focusing specifically on Global Markets
- Lead discussions with the Financial Crimes Analytics Team to set focus for key risks and thematic reviews and set strategic direction for GFC automated detection tools
