The Senior Manager, Tax is responsible for managing U.S. federal, state, and local tax compliance, supporting tax accounting and reporting, and assisting with transactional tax matters across SCA’s regional operations. This role provides technical tax expertise, ensures adherence to SCA’s governance standards, and partners with cross-functional teams to support routine business decisions and selected M&A activities. The Senior Manager plays a key role in maintaining tax discipline, improving processes, and ensuring accurate, timely tax filings and reporting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- In-person work at the assigned office location is a regular component of this role’s responsibilities.
- Manage U.S. federal and state tax compliance, including preparation/review of returns, estimated payments, and extensions
- Support audits and regulatory inquiries by preparing documentation and coordinating responses
- Maintain tax accounting policies and manage quarterly and annual ASC 740 tax provision calculations
- Identify routine tax risks and propose mitigation steps
- Implement and maintain tax controls and procedures consistent with SCA’s governance standards
- Support the development and documentation of tax policies and process improvements
- Partner with Corporate Accounting to ensure accurate tax disclosures
- Support tax due diligence and data gathering for acquisitions, divestitures, and restructurings
- Assist in evaluating tax attributes and preparing analyses for internal review
- Coordinate with Corporate Development, Finance, Legal, and external advisors to provide tax inputs into transaction materials
- Support post-close tax integration activities and assist with tax considerations for divestitures
- Assist with compliance and reporting for the U.S. consolidated group, including entity inclusion and intercompany matters
- Support international tax processes such as transfer pricing documentation, withholding tax reviews, and coordination with SC Tokyo on cross-border issues
- Help monitor changes in U.S. and international tax laws and assess impacts
- Provide tax guidance to business units on routine operational matters
- Help promote tax awareness and compliance across subsidiaries
- Serve as a reliable partner to internal teams, ensuring tax considerations are incorporated into day-to-day decisions
1 Tax Specialist
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE ANDSKILLS REQUIRED:
- CPA with 6–10 years of progressive corporate tax and/or public accounting experience
- Experience supporting M&A tax work such as due diligence, structuring, or integration (supporting role, not lead)
- Exposure to cross-border tax issues; experience with foreign-owned U.S. subsidiaries preferred
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. federal and state tax rules and ASC 740
- Extensive expertise in tax provision and income tax accounting
- Ability to communicate tax concepts clearly to non-tax stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
