Position: Legal Pricing Manager (Litigation)
Location: New York

Opportunity

We are seeking a Legal Pricing Manager (Litigation) to join our firm’s New York office (hybrid). The role focuses on supporting the firm’s pricing and client engagement strategies by developing tailored fee arrangements, creating financial models, pricing tools, and reporting systems, and monitoring performance for key matters.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement fee arrangements that align client expectations with the firm’s objectives.
  • Oversee the creation and refinement of financial models, pricing tools, and reporting systems to improve forecasting, budgeting, and performance monitoring.
  • Lead the transition of data systems (e.g., the Litigation Workstream database) to scalable platforms and build user‑friendly tools for data access and analysis.
  • Track market trends and competitive pricing data to shape innovative, industry‑specific fee structures.
  • Collaborate with the Legal Project Management team to ensure seamless matter tracking and budget implementation.
  • Consult with partners on fee negotiations, ensuring proposals meet both client budgets and firm requirements.
  • Support partners in client pricing conversations and facilitate efficient workflow with pricing analysts.
  • Contribute to the preparation of templates and robust financial pricing models that provide partners with projected outcomes for alternative pricing arrangements.
  • Establish and improve pricing metrics for individual proposals and broader pricing team initiatives.
  • Review fee arrangements, special provisions, and terms of client engagements to maintain compliance with firm policies.
  • Maintain Litigation Task‑based Billing benchmarks, re‑evaluate annually, and expand benchmark analysis to cover detailed litigation work streams.
  • Record all pitches and budget estimates in SBA Tracker and implement budgets within the tracker, coordinating with the LPM team for further tracking.
  • Monitor performance of key matters and identify fee arrangements specific to key practice areas and industries.
  • Design and implement reporting systems to aid partners in monitoring and forecasting client engagements against budget.
  • Supervise, educate, and mentor the firm’s pricing analysts.
  • Participate in hiring, selection, and training of pricing staff.
  • Coordinate and oversee day‑to‑day operations and long‑range plans for the department.
  • Ensure accurate monitoring of time, attendance, overtime, and expense reports in compliance with firm policies.
  • Oversee employees’ work performance and provide guidance on problem resolution.
Qualifications
  • Proficient in MS Suite, database reporting, relational databases, and adaptable to new software.
  • Experience with Aderant or similar legal billing and accounting systems.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in pricing, rates, budgeting, or financial analysis within a law‑firm or professional‑services environment.
  • Strong project‑management skills, multitasking ability, and a track record of meeting deadlines in fast‑paced settings.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, statistical methods, and business analytics.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong proofreading, fact‑checking, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and effective communication.
  • Capable of independent work, teamwork, and adapting to change.
  • Experience in strategic management, financial analysis, and conflict resolution.
  • Maintains confidentiality, exercises sound judgment, and administers firm policies effectively.
  • Flexible and committed to meeting business needs.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Broad experience with law‑firm technology, including Aderant or other accounting software.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
