Department Overview

Nomura's Global Markets department provides liquidity, market insights, and execution services to clients worldwide across various asset classes, including equities, fixed income, currencies, and commodities. The team focuses on innovation and technology, providing clients with cutting‑edge trading platforms and customized solutions, and specializes in market‑making, risk management, and electronic trading.

Role Description

The Editor / Research Operations analyst will support Nomura’s Global Research function with editorial, risk management, and operational processes for a global team with an Asia focus, while based in the Americas.

Responsibilities include:

  • Act as a project manager for the Research product
  • Gain deep familiarity with Research systems and liaise with stakeholders during the review and approval process
  • Provide editorial review of Research products, including those produced by non‑native speakers, to ensure correct grammar, spelling, and language
  • Ensure views are communicated clearly and reports are logically consistent
  • Mitigate reputational risk by editing for tone and language on politically sensitive topics
  • Work with Compliance as needed
  • Apply corporate branding and style guidelines consistently
Skills, Experience, Qualifications & Knowledge Required
  • Native English speaker;
    Japanese reading and writing skills preferred but not required
  • Undergraduate degree with a strong GPA
  • Superior English grammar skills and attention to detail; commercial mindset
  • Sound judgment/ability to spot reputational risk issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and maturity to manage analyst expectations
  • Basic understanding of balance sheet and financial analysis
  • Strong proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Willingness to take FINRA Series 16 examination
  • Ability to work daytime US hours (~8am – 6pm) with flexibility to work outside of these hours as necessary; primarily office‑based in NYC with some remote flexibility

Base pay may vary depending on market location, corporate and functional title, duties, and experience. The total compensation package may also include other elements such as a sign‑on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave).

If hired in the U.S., the employee will be in an “at‑will” position and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time.
