BNY seeks a Senior Vice President, Commercial Real Estate Review Appraiser to lead independent review of complex CRE appraisals supporting credit and risk decisions. In this role, you will challenge valuation methods and assumptions, ensure regulatory and policy compliance, and deliver clear reports for senior stakeholders. You'll guide framework enhancements, mentor junior reviewers, and monitor CRE market trends. Responsibilities
- Lead independent review and validation of complex commercial real estate appraisals across diverse asset classes and markets
- Assess valuation methodologies, assumptions, and risk factors to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards
- Provide credible challenge to deal teams, credit risk, and business partners on valuation conclusions and documentation quality
- Prepare clear written review reports, findings, and recommendations for credit committees and senior stakeholders
- Develop and enhance appraisal review frameworks, policies, and quality controls for CRE portfolios
- Partner with risk, credit, and business units to support underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and capital decisions
- Monitor market trends, cap rates, and CRE performance to inform valuation and risk assessments
- Mentor junior reviewers and contribute to training, knowledge sharing, and best practice development
- Engage with external appraisers, clarifying scope, assumptions, and resolving valuation issues
- Support audits, regulatory exams, and internal reviews related to real estate valuation practices
