Job Description
SVP / VP, Business Development
Northeast U.S. | Heavy Regional Travel Required | Heavy Regional Travel Required
We are working with a private equity-backed, multi-site healthcare services company to find a senior Business Development leader who will build and run the company's acquisition pipeline. This is a highly visible role reporting into the executive team, with direct exposure to the CEO, Board, and sponsor.
The company is in an active growth phase, executing a disciplined buy-and-build acquisition strategy across its core Northeast markets, with the capital in place to support a sustained, high-volume pace of small to mid-sized transactions. This is fundamentally an origination role: the mandate is to build a proprietary pipeline from scratch, not manage inbound flow.
What You'll Do- Own origination end to end: build and personally run a pipeline of acquisition targets through direct outreach, existing relationships, and intermediary networks.
- Develop and maintain credible, trusted relationships with brokers, investment banks, and other intermediaries active in the company's target markets. This is a relationship-driven role; the company needs someone who is already known and trusted in that ecosystem.
- Build direct relationships with prospective sellers and represent the company as a differentiated, credible partner of choice.
- Manage transactions from first conversation through valuation, LOI, diligence, and close, working closely with finance, legal, and operations.
- Build and present financial analyses (valuation, deal structure, return scenarios) to support investment decisions, and partner with finance on underwriting.
- Own the team's deal tracking and pipeline reporting; bring rigor and forecasting discipline to a function that needs it rebuilt.
- Manage a small internal team plus third-party sourcing resources.
- Meaningful experience in corporate development, M&A, or business development within a multi-site, private equity-backed services model, ideally in a buy-and-build/roll-up context.
- A true originator with a demonstrated track record of personally building and converting a proprietary deal pipeline, not simply managing deals that arrive.
- Existing relationships with brokers and investment banks active in lower middle market healthcare services M&A. Credibility with intermediaries is essential to this role.
- Strong financial and transactional fundamentals: comfortable leading valuation, deal structuring, and diligence, and able to hold your own with a PE sponsor and CFO.
- A track record of full-cycle ownership, staying engaged with a relationship and a transaction from first call through close.
- Willingness to travel heavily and spend real time in-market building relationships face to face.
