Program DescriptionThe Sophomore Career Exploration Internship gives undergraduate sophomores the opportunity to gain valuable work experience at a unique institution.
Through dynamic, project-based work assignments and professional development activities, students get:

Sophomore interns work in one specific business area or function for ten weeks, and have access to opportunities for collaboration with other students and employees from around the Bank.
At the end of the program, students leave with strong skills, professional connections, and meaningful experiences that will support them in their long-term careers.
Our Unique WorkThe mission of the Risk Group is to generate innovative and forward-looking opportunities that enable the Bank to leverage risk-related data and disciplines to be at the forefront of anticipating, adapting, and acting in pursuit of achieving its Mission.
The candidate will be assigned to a Risk Group Function based on skillset and business need. Skills required include a combination of technical, strong analytical thinking and communication abilities.
How You’ll Make an Impact as a Risk Intern (Sophomore)- Collect and analyze data and information to measure, monitor, and evaluate risk management practices and metrics
- Collaborate with risk management professionals to analyze controls, dependencies and handoffs of critical processes
- Support program management and business analysis-related risk management activities
- Generate reports, prepare inventories, plans, assessments, analyses, and other analytic and guidance documents to drive effective risk management practices using tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Tableau
- Update program status reports and communications across FRBNY and FRS
- Ability to develop and develop data solutions and professional presentations
- Some knowledge and quantitative interest in risk management principles helpful
- Analyze business activities, understand, and describe process flows, strengths and weaknesses, and develop suggestions to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Willingness to learn new skills and tools and ability to collaborate

Your regular wages for the 10 weeks will be paid on a semi-monthly basis and will be calculated based on an annual salary of $65,600.
