Investment Banking Associate (Generalist) – New York

A leading global investment bank is seeking an Associate (Generalist) to join its New York office. The role offers the opportunity to work across M&A, equity capital markets, and debt financings with exposure to both large‑cap and sponsor‑backed transactions. This position is ideal for candidates with prior investment banking, private equity, or equivalent transaction experience who are looking to take on increased execution responsibility and junior team oversight within a fast‑paced, high‑performance environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Play a central role in the execution of M&A transactions, IPOs, follow‑ons, leveraged finance, and private placements.
  • Coordinate due diligence processes, including managing data rooms, diligence requests, and third‑party advisors.
  • Lead drafting of transaction materials such as Confidential Information Memoranda (CIMs), management presentations, investor presentations, and board material.
  • Build and review fully integrated 3‑statement models (DCF, LBO, merger, accretion/dilution, and financing analyses).
  • Perform valuation analyses using trading comps and precedent transactions.
  • Oversee and quality‑check analyst work to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Serve as a key day‑to‑day contact for clients, private equity sponsors, and counter parties.
  • Support senior bankers in client meetings, deal negotiations, and execution strategy.
  • Manage multiple live deal work streams simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
  • Supervise analysts and provide mentorship, guidance, and workflow management.
  • Take ownership of work streams and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality materials.
  • Coordinate internally with product partners (Lev Fin, ECM, DCM, Sponsors, etc.).
Qualifications
  • 2–4 years of experience in investment banking (Associate promote or top‑bucket analyst), private equity, or M&A advisory.
  • Strong background in financial modeling and valuation.
  • Experience working on live deal execution (not just pitches) is required.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling best practices.
Desired Skills and Experience

Proficiency in financial modeling, due diligence coordination, and client communication; ability to manage multiple high‑priority work streams and mentor junior team members.
