Department Overview

Risk Management supports Nomura to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the firm, providing independent advice to the Board and protecting the firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, operational and other risks.

The Operational Risk Management (ORM) 2

LoD function is part of the Risk Management organization and is responsible for:

• Developing operational risk frameworks and policies
• Provide independent oversight over operational risks and challenge First Line of Defense
• Monitor risk appetite compliance
• Report to senior management and committees

Role Overview:

In this role, you will be the leader overseeing our Nomura Asset Management International business in the US and across international entities (NAMI).

• Top and Emerging Risks:
  Assess top and emerging risks for NAMI, leveraging on the ORM framework and organization.
• Team Management:
  Lead the ORM team members covering NAMIto provide globally consistent and effective check and challenge to 1
  
  LoD.
• Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA):
  Roll out the Nomura methodology on NAMI entities, ensuring full alignment with the overall Investment Management Division framework.
• Operational Risk Events:
  Review events to provide relevant challenge on root causes and mitigating actions. Monitor and identify emerging risks or risk concentrations.
• Key Risk Indicators:
  Help define KRIs to monitor the risk profile evolution. Identify early warnings, trends and breaches of risk appetite.
• Monitoring and Reporting:
  Provide forward-looking and independent view of risk exposures at periodic meetings with respective business and risk leads. Actively contribute to continuous improvement of risk practices.
• Scenarios:
  Provide subject matter expertise as required for scenario analysis.
• Thematic Review:
  Identify and conduct thematic targeted risk assessments and deep dives for top and emerging risks for respective risk domain.
• Risk Culture, Training and Awareness:
  Promote risk culture, training and awareness of operational risk within NAMI.

Required qualifications:

• 1 5+ year experience in either 1, 2 or 3
  
  LoD risk management positions in a global asset management firm.
• Intimate knowledge of operational risk management principles and framework, including regulatory and fiduciary risks.
• Proven records participating in transformation project impacting risk framework and organizations
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
