About the RoleWe are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Controller / Senior Fund Accountant to serve as a key member of our finance team. In this role, you will be the core of our financial and operational infrastructure. Partnering directly with our executive team, you will elevate our accounting processes, drive efficiency, and ensure the long-term financial health of our family office and VC funds.
We are looking for an experienced finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment and is eager to shape the financial future of a growing, multi-faceted investment firm.
- Lead the accounting process for our family office funds, including the accurate recording of investment transactions and tracking tax basis details.
- Prepare financial statements for our family office funds, including fund performance calculations and profit share allocations.
- Lead and manage the relationship with our outsourced fund administrator for the VC funds, overseeing the preparation of fund financials and performance metrics.
- Assist in the timely and accurate review of monthly books and records prepared by our outsourced accounting firms for our operating entities.
- Lead the preparation of financial presentations, reports, and internal deliverables for executive management and investors (e.g., portfolio company analysis, investment performance).
- Process subscriptions, capital calls, distributions, and shareholder actions for investments in third-party funds.
- Challenge pre-existing processes and advocate for enhancements to our infrastructure and workflows.
- Build and implement robust accounting systems and workflows for our family office funds to ensure scalability and operational excellence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- CPA designation highly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with a strong focus on fund accounting within the investment management industry.
- Detailed oriented accountant who knows VC/PE fund accounting, including waterfalls, subscriptions, and valuations.
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
200-300k max all in plus equity. Schedule is flexible.
