Job Description & How to Apply Below

A sophisticated single family office is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to serve as the principal's right hand on all financial matters. The principal's wealth originated in and remains heavily weighted toward private equity — fund investments, co-investments, and direct ownership stakes in operating businesses — so this role calls for a finance executive who is as comfortable underwriting a deal as they are closing the monthly books.

What

You'll Do

Own the Numbers

Build and run the financial infrastructure for the family office — consolidated reporting, treasury, cash management, and budgeting across a multi-entity structure. Deliver the principal clear, timely visibility into liquidity, exposure, and performance across the full portfolio.

Speak the Language of Private Equity

Manage capital call and distribution tracking across fund commitments; maintain accurate records of unfunded commitments and carried interest; support financial diligence on new direct and co-investment opportunities alongside the principal and any outside advisors.

Run a Tight Ship Operationally

Oversee accounting across the family's LPs, LLCs, and trust structures. Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and subscription lines. Keep the books audit-ready and the entity structure clean as new investments come on and off the balance sheet.

Coordinate the Outside Team

Serve as the primary point of contact for fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel. Make sure nothing falls through the cracks between external parties and the family's own records.

Be a Real Partner on Tax & Wealth Planning

Work with outside tax and estate counsel on structuring, K-1 coordination, and long-term wealth transfer planning — bringing a financial lens to decisions that carry both investment and legacy implications.

Lead and Build

Manage the internal finance team (or build one, if the office is still scaling) and put scalable processes in place as the portfolio and family's needs grow more complex.

What You Bring
  • 10+ years in finance leadership, with real exposure to private equity — whether from inside a family office, a PE fund's finance/controller function, or an institutional allocator or fund administrator.
  • Comfort with the mechanics of fund investing: capital calls, distribution waterfalls, carried interest, and direct deal structuring.
  • A track record of owning consolidated reporting across complicated, multi-entity ownership structures.
  • CPA and/or CFA strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing a lean team and serving as the face of the finance function to outside advisors.
