About the PositionSea Change uses a flexible staffing model in which every team member works across programs and contributes to the organization’s administration, operations, communications, and strategy. The Analyst/Associate will work across Sea Change’s lending and grantmaking programs, and will also contribute to advisory and analytical projects.
The Analyst/Associate will support the full lifecycle of grants and loans, including screening, due diligence, structuring, proposal, approval, execution, portfolio management, and reporting. Within this context, the Analyst/Associate’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Mergers and Collaborations- Assist with select merger and collaboration deals, including screening nonprofits, conducting due diligence, and preparing proposals for investment committees
- Support maintenance of the internal grants database; evaluate grants and request reporting from grantees as appropriate
- Produce reports and assist in drafting grant proposals for funders
- Assist with select credit transactions by screening potential borrowers, conducting relevant due diligence (i.e., reviewing & analyzing financial, legal, and organizational documents), and drafting investment recommendations and term sheets
- Provide portfolio management support by helping maintain loans database; evaluate transactions and borrower performance; manage and maintain internal transaction/contact tracking systems (i.e., Salesforce) and associated communications; produce quarterly funder reports
Support and produce analysis for advisory projects and research reports for nonprofits and coalitions; create any associated deliverables (e.g., presentations, metrics, summaries, etc.)
The Analyst/Associate will contribute positively to the teamwork, culture, and learning of a small, entrepreneurial organization, living our values of respect, do no harm, confidentiality, neutrality, equity, independence, and added leverage. In each area, the Analyst/Associate will work closely with and be supervised by the relevant member of the Sea Change team, but Sea Change Partners – John Mac Intosh (Managing Partner), Taj Tabassoom (Lending & Investment), and Lindsay Kijewski (Collaboration Grantmaking) – will be responsible for overall supervision.
