Macdonald & Company has been retained by an established alternative investment manager specializing in commercial real estate credit to appoint a Director of Capital Markets in New York.
The firm has a long-standing track record investing across the U.S. and has completed more than $4 billion of short-term bridge and construction financing across approximately 200 loans.
The Director of Capital Markets will be responsible for growing the firm's private wealth distribution network, with a particular focus on RIAs, family offices and wealth managers. This is a senior, highly autonomous position for an experienced capital raiser who brings an established network and can take ownership of relationships from origination through investment.
The RoleThe Director will:
- Own and develop a national portfolio of relationships across RIAs, family offices and wealth managers.
- Raise capital for commercial real estate credit and lending strategies.
- Build new relationships across the private wealth and financial advisor channels.
- Present investment opportunities and articulate the firm's real estate credit strategy to investors and advisors.
- Work closely with senior leadership and internal teams throughout the fundraising and investment process.
- Maintain visibility across the capital pipeline, investor activity and allocations.
- Represent the firm at relevant industry events and conferences.
- Report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
We are particularly interested in individuals with:
- Approximately 10–20 years of experience across alternative investment distribution, private placements or capital markets.
- A demonstrable track record raising capital through RIAs, family offices and/or wealth management relationships.
- An established and active network that can be engaged upon joining.
- Experience with commercial real estate debt and credit strategies, particularly bridge lending, construction lending or related products.
- Strong knowledge of private placements and deal-by-deal investment structures.
- The ability to communicate real estate credit and debt investment strategies effectively to sophisticated investors and financial advisors.
- A track record operating independently and managing a broad national relationship base.
Experience with mezzanine debt and preferred equity would be advantageous but is not essential.
