Senior Innovation Policy Specialist; Financial Services Specialist ; Policy Analysis), SG

The New York State Department of Financial Services seeks a Senior Innovation Policy Specialist to help shape and execute its Innovation Policy agenda, which focuses on bridging the gap between innovative financial-services companies and existing financial regulations. The role involves qualitative and quantitative research on fintech, insurtech, and regtech; policy analysis and development; managing projects across the Innovation Policy Unit; and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

The position is based in New York City and reports to senior leadership.

• Seven years of specialized experience in research, planning, administration, and/or analysis of policies affecting regulated financial services entities
• Research and analysis of State and federal statutes and regulations and their effects on financial services business activities
• Expertise in emerging innovation policy issues including artificial intelligence, data privacy, fintech, insurtech, and payments
• Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Ability to provide policy recommendations and briefings to senior leadership
