Location: New York
The New York State Department of Financial Services seeks a Virtual Currency Financial Crimes Risk Specialist to conduct BSA/AML program reviews and lead financial crime examinations of licensed and chartered entities in the virtual currency space. The role involves utilizing blockchain analytics tools, serving as a subject matter expert on crypto-related financial crime, and communicating findings to management and stakeholders. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Albany or New York City with up to 25% travel.
Keyqualifications:
- Nine years of specialized experience evaluating financial institution financial crime risk (BSA/AML, CIP, OFAC/Sanctions, CTF) in a management, compliance or audit environment, with at least two years
- 3+ years of direct experience working in the crypto industry utilizing blockchain analytics and OSINT tools (preferred)
- Subject matter expertise in financial crime, fraud, virtual assets, and/or blockchain analytics (preferred)
- Solid knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML), Sanctions (OFAC), and related laws, regulations, and best practices (preferred)
- Valid certifications in blockchain analytics, anti-money laundering, fraud examination, or related compliance areas (preferred)
