Location: New York

A financial services organization is seeking an experienced AML investigations professional to identify and investigate potentially suspicious activity, document case dispositions, prepare Suspicious Activity Reports, and support ongoing transaction monitoring activities.

This role requires strong investigative judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex findings clearly to audiences ranging from analysts to senior management, auditors, and regulators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review, investigate, and document cases escalated from various sources to identify potentially suspicious activity and financial crime risks.
  • Determine appropriate case dispositions and escape identified risks in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform specialized and targeted transaction monitoring using manual investigative techniques.
  • Prepare and draft Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) with accurate, relevant, and clearly presented information.
  • Conduct case reconciliations and generate required 90-day follow-up cases.
  • Perform preliminary 90-day reviews, including preparation and analysis of wire transaction data.
  • Evaluate activity to determine whether cases represent continuing or non-continuing suspicious activity.
  • Identify and communicate anomalies, emerging risks, and investigative findings to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Conduct special investigations and respond to management inquiries regarding AML-related matters.
  • Assist with system testing and other projects supporting AML and financial crime initiatives.
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members.
  • Participate in process improvements and broader AML program initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and internal AML procedures.
