AJ Chambers are delighted to be working with an established New York law firm seeking a 3-5 year Investment Funds / Private Funds Associate to join its sophisticated Financial Services Group.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with experience advising investment funds, private funds and alternative investment managers, including hedge funds, private equity funds, venture capital funds, real estate funds, commodity pools and other alternative investment vehicles.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced partners and sophisticated clients, gaining meaningful exposure to fund formation, fund structuring, governance, regulatory and compliance matters, with direct client contact and responsibility from an early stage.

Hybrid: Monday-Thursday in the New York office; remote Fridays.

About the Role

The attorney will work alongside partners within the Financial Services / Investment Funds practice and advise a broad range of fund and asset management clients.

Responsibilities

Advise investment funds, fund sponsors, investment managers and alternative investment firms
Assist with fund formation and fund structuring
Advise clients on fund governance and organizational matters
Assist with regulatory and compliance issues affecting investment funds and managers

Work with partners on sophisticated financial services and investment management matters
Communicate directly with clients and assist with ongoing client relationships
Draft, review and negotiate fund and investment management documentation
Research and advise on applicable securities, investment management and financial services regulations
Collaborate with attorneys across the Financial Services Group

Must Have

3-5 years of law firm experience
Meaningful experience in investment funds, private funds or financial services law
Experience advising one or more of:
Hedge funds
Private equity funds
Venture capital funds
Commodity pools
Alternative investment funds
Investment managers
Experience with fund formation, fund structuring, governance, regulatory or compliance matters
Strong legal research, drafting and analytical skills
Strong communication and client facing skills
Ability to work closely with partners and sophisticated clients
