Location: New York
the nyc housing authority (nycha) seeks an investigator to join nycha’s eeo and fair housing investigations unit as an eeo and fair housing investigator. The eeo and fair housing investigations unit is situated within nycha’s office of eeo, fair housing, and access services (efas). The investigator will report directly to the vice president & eeo officer of efas. This position requires strong writing and analytical skills, and the ability to work productively in a team setting.
associatefraud investigator – 31118 key responsibilities
- intake employee complaints of discrimination, sexual harassment, or retaliation.
- assess employee complaints and determine appropriate actions.
- perform internal investigations of eeo and fair housing complaints.
- conduct interviews of parties and witnesses.
- draft investigative finding reports.
- research relevant policies or other regulations as necessary.
- maintain organized files in a case management system.
- provide other guidance to employees and managers as needed.
- a four‑year high school diploma or equivalent and five years of satisfactory, full‑time experience, acquired within the united states in one or a combination of the following: performing investigations involving criminal and/or fraudulent activities; evaluating credit histories; searching for assets; and/or researching, compiling and/or locating evidence or information in order to build a case or uncover activities of criminal, corrupt, unlawful or unethical nature involving public or private funds, with one year of which shall have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity;
or - an associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college, including or supplemented by 12 semester credits from an accredited united states college in criminal justice, forensic science, police science, criminology, criminal justice administration and planning, and/or law or related field and three years of satisfactory, full‑time experience as described in "1" above, one year of which shall have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity;
or - a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory, full‑time experience as described in "1" above, one year of which shall have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or
- education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must have a four‑year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and have one year of supervisory or administrative experience in the areas described in "1" above. Undergraduate college credit can be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits, from an accredited college, including or supplemented by 6 semester credits in the areas described in "2" above for one year of experience.

- the department of citywide administrative services (dcas) administered a civil service exam for the associate fraud investigator title on 04/16/24. Therefore, applicants (candidates) that did not take and pass the exam will potentially not be considered; likewise, applicants not reachable on the established civil service list will potentially be in jeopardy of being replaced with an eligible civil service candidate.
- if this appointment is made on a provisional basis pursuant to 65 of the nys civil service law, no tenure or permanence accrues to an incumbent in this position by virtue of such appointment.
