The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Housing, Economic Development and Workforce oversees the City’s housing, economic development, cultural, planning, and workforce agencies, and works to create a more vibrant and equitable New York City. These agencies include but are not limited to the Mayor’s Office of Talent and Workforce Development, the Economic Development Corporation (EDC), and Small Businesses Services (SBS).
The Senior Advisor’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate housing and social services policy across agencies and DM portfolios:
- Lead coordination for the DMHP team to create recommendations for high-level policy decisions relating to both housing and social services.
- Act as chief liaison to Deputy Mayor Health and Human Services (DMHHS) agencies in the DMHHS portfolio for DMHP.
- Ensure that recommendations are aligned, both across DMHP and DMHHS teams, and with broader City housing policy and goals.
- Gather and synthesize relevant information, data, and materials from agencies, applying policy and political judgment in making recommendations for decisions to DMHP and DMHHS.
- Implement project management structures to facilitate clear decision-making and accountability for shared issues across DMHP and DMHHS portfolios.
- Ensure that DMHP and DMHHS receive timely, accurate, and actionable information related to shared issues in the portfolio.
- Support policy and program development in critical housing and homelessness areas, including shelter exits into permanent housing, rental assistance, homeless housing production, and related lease‑up processes.
- Support coordination of stakeholder engagement on housing and homelessness issues in the DMHP portfolio:
- Serve as key partner to external stakeholders, in close coordination across City Hall.
- Work closely with Intergovernmental Affairs to evaluate legislative proposals related to homelessness and housing policy to ensure bills lead to effective policy outcomes.

- Can work independently and within a fast-paced environment, as well as thrive in a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Is a self-starter who positively contributes to a learning culture and collaborative team and is willing to perform the full range of tasks required in a dynamic and rapidly responsive organization.
- Can quickly absorb complex technical concepts and brief senior staff across City Hall.
- Has thorough knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Has exceptional written, oral communication, and presentation skills.
- Has experience working with the agencies in the portfolio, a strong plus.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 8+ years of experience.
